Night Sky Glow™
The Story Folks Pass Down
...and some swear it’s true.
Now… they say if you push deep into the desert, past the last flickering porch light and the end of the gravel road, you might find Levi Holt and his old dog, Gunner. Most don’t. But on the rare nights when the sky’s black as coal, they’re out there - still as stone - waitin’ under the Milky Way.

Levi Holt and Gunner on a rare new moon night, collecting the starlight that makes NSM’s paint glow.
The Last Keeper of the Secret
Levi’s an old miner by trade. Retired now. But he’s also the keeper of a secret. Passed from one man to the next for hundreds of years. Only one ever knows it at a time. And it all started long before the mines... out on the open sea.
The Legend of the Black Lantern
Back in the days of wooden ships, sailors who steered by the stars held a secret they never put to paper.
Open flames in torches deep in a hull could turn a ship into kindling… so they found another way — a way to pull starlight itself into their lanterns.
That trick came from a place few dared speak of… a jagged little island wrapped in fog and guarded by angry seas.
They called it Black Lantern Isle.
The ground there was a strange, dark stone laced with pale, glimmering veins. Ground and mixed in the right amounts, it was the only blend on earth that could hold starlight.
You couldn’t chart a course for the island. You couldn’t even look for it. The island found you… and only when the stars wanted you to see it.
Now and then, a lucky crew would make landfall. They’d chip away chunks of that stone, haul ’em back aboard, and grind ’em fine. Mixed into a resin and brushed inside their lanterns, it would hold starlight like a magnet draws iron.
That was the heart of the secret. Without it, the light would just slip away into the dark.
A Miner’s Light in the Darkness
That secret passed from hand to hand until 1907, when the Fairmont Coal and Coke Mines #6 and #8 in Monongah, West Virginia, blew apart — killing hundreds.
After that, the old mariner’s trick drifted inland... into coal country. It gave miners a cool, steady light that could never spark gas or dust.
Levi’s the last man alive who knows the exact mix... the amounts... and where to find the stone. Without the lining in his heavy vat, starlight won’t hold — it just slips away like mist.
And there are rules.
You can only gather it on the night of a new moon - when the sky’s darker than a shut mine. Miss it, and you wait another month. If clouds roll in, the night’s work is gone.
Even on a perfect night, Levi never takes more than a cup or two. Any more, and the stars above might dim. And he won’t have that on his conscience.
From Starlight to Starry Ceilings
These days, nobody's haulin' starlight down into the mines. But Levi’s still workin' the old way - only now, it's for Night Sky Murals.
He pulls in those small, precious batches... and they go straight into what folks around here call "Night Sky Glow™" paint. Same glow. Same secret. Only now, the coal dust is gone - traded for ceilings full of stars.

Some nights, that paint finds its way onto ceilings so thick with stars you quit countin'. Other times, it's packed into kits - so dreamers half a world away can brush a piece of night sky onto their own ceilings.

And the thing is… that secret only ever belongs to one soul at a time. Levi hasn’t said who’s next. Might be he’s still lookin’. Might be he’ll take it to his grave.
That’s the truth of NSM — it ain’t just paint. It’s borrowed starlight… gathered the old way… so you can hold a piece of the night sky for the rest of your days.Every time you look up at your night sky mural, you're seeing the glow of starlight that's traveled millions of miles - gathered by Levi himself, just for you.
